Finial Garden Ornaments
A finial is not a name that springs to mind to every gardener, but a finial is a garden ornament. It is defined as "An ornament at the top of a spire or gable; usually a foliated fleur-de-lis". Usually, but far from always, especially these days when an imaginative gardener is looking for something unique, or at least unusual.
In fact, a finial is also a name given for a spike at the top of a building, or even the round ball at the top of a flag pole. That is all academic really, suffice it to say you can find finials that make unusual and very decorative garden ornaments, wherever you may choose to place them.
Some of the finials you find these days are quite whimsical in their subject matter, which helps to make for a great variety of designs. At top left, the finial is an artichoke, while a similar shape can be obtained by selecting a pineapple or acorn. the artichoke example is in fiberstone, a stone cast aggregate which is then reinforced by fibreglass and then finished with a choice of colour shades.
The second finial pictured is more classic, being a gothic example. Again there is a good choice of finishes for these antique looking ornaments, so you can select the best for the type of vintage appearance you are looking for. The material is also open to choice, being available in fiberstone and fibreglass.
Getting a bit closer to the fleur-de-lis in the opening dicitonary definition, the finial shown left is leafy, and is again available in a range of finishes, one of which is certain to suit your garden decor design.
